March Maintenance

Spring in Middle Tennessee can be unpredictable. One day it’s sunny and 70 degrees, and the next is rainy and in the 40s. The fluctuating temperatures and precipitation can be harsh on your home.

Here are our Top 3 things to inspect in your home this month:

1. Attack the attic

What are the two things to check in the attic? Water intrusion and animals. Water intrusion indicates a roofing issue. Animals in your attic will wreak havoc on your insulation.

2. Check your deck

Look for water stains, warping or discoloration. Keep you and your loved ones safe by securing any loose stairs and railings and replacing any boards that are lifting or rotting. If there are a few days of sunny weather, consider staining, painting or adding a protective coat to the deck boards.

3. Terminate the termites

Do you see tiny insects flying in and out of your crawlspace door and vents? Has your next-door neighbor recently treated for termites? Have you not had a termite inspection in the last 2 years? If you answered yes to any question, then it’s time to call a pest-control company to investigate and mitigate. Termites can cause thousands of dollars of damage to the wooden structures in your home (i.e. your floor joists and foundation supports).
