Giving Back This Holiday Season

While we are big believers in supporting the communities we serve and live in all year long, the holidays certainly inspire a spirit of giving and are a welcome time to give back to the Nashville community.

There are ample ways to support our community whether that is volunteering your time to a cause or donating money or participating in a program. It can be as simple as checking in on your elderly neighbors or as involved as serving on the board of a nonprofit organization. In this season of giving, we wanted to share about three nonprofits Jennifer, Lila and I choose to support.

East Nashville Hope Exchange

East Nashville Hope Exchange (ENHE) is a nonprofit organization with the mission of strengthening children's literacy and affirming the right to read for all. ENHE provides resources and support for families within the East Nashville community and provides a supportive, structured and safe environment where children can learn and have fun.

Daybreak Arts

Daybreak Arts is a social enterprise nonprofit that creates artistic and economic opportunities for people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity by providing them access to the creative resources needed to achieve personal fulfillment and success. Since 2014, Daybreak Arts has served more than 100 artists and paid out more than $54,000 to artists experiencing housing insecurity.

Greenways for Nashville

Greenways for Nashville is a nonprofit organization created to give the general public a way to support the planning and development of a greenway system of trails and open spaces throughout Davidson County. The greenway system is an initiative of the Metro Parks Department and the Greenways Commission and Greenways for Nashville. To date, Greenways for Nashville has assisted in developing a significant trail footprint of nearly 100 miles, including the protection of over 2,700 acres of floodplain land and the addition of over 7,000 acres of park land through the Greenways and Open Space Division of Metro Parks.
