Halloween Home Safety

Are you welcoming trick-or-treaters on October 31st? Don’t spook the kiddos with trip hazards and poor lighting! Here are some tips to keep in mind to ensure a frightfully fun night:

  1. Leave the porch lights on.

This allows trick-or-treaters to know you have candy, and they can find their way to your door safely.

  2. Keep your walkways clear.

No one wants a fall or injury to ruin their Halloween night. Sweep away leaves and remove garden hoses and other trip hazards. Make sure lawn displays are visible and well lit; kids often run across lawns and are focused only on candy.

  3. Test your smoke detectors.

If you’re using candles in your jack-o-lanterns or burning your favorite fall candles inside, now is a good time to be sure your smoke detector batteries are fresh.
